Driving from Hohoe to Wli Waterfalls
Wli is a short drive east of Hohoe on a local road that leads to the village at the foot of the falls, in the Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary.
Wli is Ghana's highest waterfall. The walk from the visitor centre to the lower falls takes under an hour each way through forest.
The road is narrower and slower than the main highway, so allow time, especially in the rainy season.
By bus or trotro
Shared taxis and minibuses run between Hohoe and Wli during the day, and motorbike taxis are also common.
Plan your return before you set out — vehicles back to Hohoe get scarce in the late afternoon.
New to trotros? Read how to ride a trotro. Fares change often, so check at the station before you travel. For live directions — by car, bus, motorbike, bicycle or on foot — open Wli Waterfalls on the Lincoln Navigation map. It shows road hazards other drivers have reported and the weather along the way.
Tips for the trip
- Go in the morning, when the walk is cooler and the light is best.
- Wear sturdy shoes — the path can be slippery.
- Bring swimwear if you want to swim at the base of the lower falls.
