Emergency help · Ghana
Help is one call away.
Do you know the number?
Dial 112 — Ghana's national number for police, fire and ambulance. The first thing a dispatcher needs is where you are, and street names are not always enough. Lincoln Navigation gives you an exact pin and GhanaPost GPS address in seconds.

Six things to tell
the dispatcher.

- 01
Where are you?
GPS
Street names are often missing or shared by several places. An exact pin points responders to the right door.
The fix
Open the map, search or drop a pin, and read out the GhanaPost GPS digital address shown for that spot.
Open the map - 02
What happened?
1 LINE
Say it in one sentence: fire, crash, medical, crime. The dispatcher will ask for more.
The fix
Start with the type of emergency, then where. Answer the questions you are asked — do not hang up early.
- 03
Who is hurt?
COUNT
How many people, and whether they are awake and breathing, decides what is sent.
The fix
Give a number and what you can see. Do not move a badly injured person unless they are in danger.
- 04
Is the scene safe?
SAFE?
Fire, fumes, traffic and floodwater can hurt the next person to arrive.
The fix
Move yourself and others away from the danger first, then call. Say what the hazard is.
- 05
Can they call you back?
STAY ON
Responders may need to reach you again for directions.
The fix
Keep the line open, keep your phone charged and in your hand, and do not switch to another call.
- 06
What is nearby?
NEAR
A junction, filling station, church or market gives responders a second way to find you.
The fix
Name the closest big landmark and which side of the road you are on, as well as the GPS address.

Stay calm.
Do these three things.
1
Stay safe
Get out of danger first — away from fire, fumes, moving traffic and rising water. Help cannot reach you if you are hurt too.
2
Call
Dial 112, or the number for the service you need. Say what happened and where. Stay on the line until they tell you to hang up.
3
Share where
Give your GhanaPost GPS address and the nearest landmark. Send a live location link to someone who can meet responders.

- 112National emergencyThe official number for police, fire and ambulance. Call this if you are unsure who to call.
191PoliceDirect police line for crime, threats and dangerous accidents. Police also list 18555.
192Fire serviceDirect line to the Ghana National Fire Service for fire, rescue and trapped people.
193Ambulance (older line)For an ambulance, call 112. The government replaced 193 with 112 in 2020, so 193 may not connect.
If one number will not connect from your network, try 112. Last checked October 2026 against statements from the government (112 announcement, Jan 2020), the Ghana Police Service (191 and 18555) and the Ghana National Fire Service (112 and 192). Numbers can change, so confirm with the services themselves.
