About Labadi Beach

Labadi Beach, also known as La Pleasure Beach, is Accra's best-known beach, on the coast in La, east of the city centre. At weekends and on holidays it fills with music, food stalls, drummers, dancers and horse rides along the sand.

It's popular for sundowners — the beach bars stay busy into the evening.

Getting there

Labadi is in La, a short drive east of central Accra along the coastal Labadi Road. Taxis and ride-hailing cars drop off at the beach entrance.

For live, turn-by-turn directions from wherever you are — by car, trotro, motorbike, bicycle or on foot — open Labadi Beach on the Lincoln Navigation map. It also shows the weather there and any road hazards reported along the way.

Before you go

  • There's usually a small entry fee at the beach entrance.
  • The Atlantic currents here are strong — swim with care and stay close to the shore.
  • Sunday afternoons are the liveliest; weekday mornings are much quieter.
